Positive Cross-Cultural Encounters

When you decide to encounter one other culture, you may be surprised to learn that they are not that much different than you will be. You may even develop close a genuine. The books " My own Sojourn in the Lands of my Ancestors” and " The Interesting Narrative from the Life of Olaudah Equiano” show both confident and negative examples of cross-cultural encounters. To discover another's tradition you must first acknowledge them, and treat all of them as you will treat someone else. If you don't agree to them the encounter are not very pleasurable or will probably be nonexistent. In the autobiography " My Sojourn in the Royaume of my personal Ancestors” the African-American publisher Maya Angelou writes about her face with the African people of a small village in Ghana. Often times once African-Americans went back to The african continent they were not accepted while Africans and were rejected, as Angelou states " Despite the sincerity and eagerness, i was often rebuffed” (110). When Maya has contact with the Africans, that they mistake her for being Bambara, a type of Photography equipment from Liberia. Because of her fear of rejection and satisfaction of popularity, Angelou chooses not to correct their inference and leaves them to imagine she is Africa, she states " the first time since my own arrival, I used to be very practically home, not really a Ghanaian, yet at least accepted for an Africa. The sensation was worth a lie. (Angelou 114)” Because of her acknowledgement Angelou surely could have a good cross-cultural encounter that led to lifelong friendships. Had the girl not have been accepted by Africans, Angelou may not have gotten this charming experience.
