I strongly believed that languages were learned generally through bogus. Unfortunately, following discussing this proposition with my classmates and tutor, we figured this declaration was bogus. In my experience being a helper of teachers in ESL classes, I saw that, the Audio-lingual Method gave very positive results. On one hand, this process was designed to develop the ability of oral fluency in a second language in on the lookout for months, that has been also maintained a number of American linguists (Ellis R. 1990, p. 20). On the other hand, research has shown that, eventually, learners were not just bored by repetitious exercises that entertained so much of time, but as well they were not really learning any more than they ever endured (Chomsky, 1959. in Allwright, D., & Bailey, K. M.. 2006, p. 6). Repetition may not help in the other language learning, although can certainly help to develop the ability of oral connection.
Another element that my classmates and I thought is the most important factor in second language acquisition is usually motivation. It can be logic to say that learners, who will be motivated, will learn more and more quickly than those who are not. In fact , Gardner claims that " Motivation consists of four elements, a goal, effortful behaviour, a desire to attain the objective and favourable attitudes toward the activity in questionвЂќ (1985, p. 40, in Gass S. and Selinker M., p. 350). However Brehm and Home argue that hard work is considered to be a consequence of motivation, not just a component (in Gass. S i9000 and Selinker L., s. 351). I believe that the important point is that motivation will be a major factor of Second Language Acquisition (maybe certainly not the most important), and can have an effect on in different methods in each learner.
